The Door

Christian figured out how to open the sliding door. Now this is a scene enacted in our house about a million times a day.

Sunday Afternoon

Now that we're not going to church at night (3:30-6:30 last year), we are discovering all kinds of hidden talents.

Christian is a natural baker and loves to "help" make cookies.

Mary has an instinctive reaction to the camera. We call this her cheese face.

Casey is a gifted princess player.

We love this year's church schedule!

Mobile Baby

Okay, first off, I know it's been six months with no updates. I have no excuses and no apologies. You can just take what I offer here and be grateful for it...but you know I still love you.

Mary's not crawling yet, not really, but she scoots around on her butt and does this lunge-leg drag move that is actually pretty effective. She got into the entry way for the first time the other day and was so proud of herself.

Now she gets to the kitchen and opens all the cupboards, steals toys from Christian (although he's still faster than her so he wins that battle all the time), and generally wreaks havoc. Thank goodness she's still slow.

Christian is 2!

Our sweet little boy turned 2 last month ! He is so much fun to have in the house. He loves to tease (especially Andrew), takes everything Mary ever touches, doesn't eat enough to keep a bird alive, and is the light of our family. You can't take things too seriously when Christian is involved, he instantly lights up the room when he walks in and just makes everything more fun. Just before his birthday he started weekly speech therapy sessions. When he turned 2 he could still only say a handful of words and was speaking at the level of a 12-month-old. Just 2 months later he is now speaking in simple sentences and communicates quite well. We love this little guy!

We went to McD's for his big birthday dinner. It's practically the only food he'll actually eat.

When we got home we had cake. I'm really embarrassed about this cake, and was completely annoyed about it at his party. But I was up with stinky Mary who had an ear infection (she's now headed for tubes, btw) and barely got any decorations up and a cake done at all. That whole week I was averaging about 2 1/2 hours of sleep a night. Poor Christian and his un-decorated birthday cake.

Can't you tell she's miserable??

Then the presents. This was a highlight, since he'd just learned a week earlier at Christmas about the joys of ripping open presents and finding new toys inside.

Happy 2nd Birthday Christian!
